I’m getting a lot of questions regarding productivity and over the years. It’s become clear to me that a lot of people would like to improve their productivity but…
- They don’t have time to read book / blogs and learning new methods/systems.
- They don’t fancy installing yet another productivity app.
So would would my advice be if I were to suggest only ONE tip ?
If I were to suggest just one single tip and more so, a tip that would take into consideration what we have just outlined above. That is, lack of time and unwillingness to try new apps/systems etc.
My advice would be to QUIT SOCIAL MEDIA.
That’s it, quit all the social media. In my opinion, it’s a number one obstacle to becoming productive.
Why would that be you ask ?
Here are the main reasons. Although if you search online you will find a 100 more good reasons to quit social media.
1) You will stop procrastinating
Do you find yourself checking your social media the fist thing when you wake up every morning ?
You’re not alone, a lot of people start their day checking social media feeds. Instead of getting on with what’s important in your life you waste your time watching fake reality of your Instagram feed or perhaps some Twitter nonsense. Quitting social media will end that terrible habit.
2) Quitting social media will eliminate a lot of distractions
That’s another big issue. Social media not only makes you procrastinate but also keeps you distracted. It’s impossible to enter flow when you’re constantly interrupted with social media notifications. And for what ?
Someone commenting of the picture of cheesecake you had 2 days ago. Is that really worth it ?
3) You will have more time
And finally, once you quit social media you will suddenly find yourself with a fair bit (or a lot) of time you can spend doing something that benefits your life. This could be anything from spending time with your family to working on your business.
So there you have it. If I were to give you just one single productivity tip for 2022. That would be Quitting Social Media.
